A true servant’s heart

An understanding of what Pilot Point citizens want

It is my honor to support Chad Major in his run for Mayor in 2025. I have known Chad Major and his wife Kate Major for over eight years. I met them while they were both leading a DivorceCare group at the same church we all attended. You cannot help but get to know people when sharing a rough time in your life as I was. Chad provided a perspective that assisted all of us in understanding a Christian man’s ideals when dealing with divorce. He made it clear that his family was what he considered first. It was important to him to be a present father for his kids.

He is a strong person that is always willing to assist in any way should someone need advice or encouragement. He is more than just a “nice guy.” He is a man who gets involved and makes his presence known. He is a great leader in both his family and in our church. He would make a great Mayor for Pilot Point, and I highly recommend him for the position.

As someone with a legal background, I see only a fraction of what concerns our residents in Pilot Point with regards to our current and past mayors and council. I think it would be good to have new people on the city’s council, however, I would want a mayor who has experience with both our city’s business as well as an understanding of what its citizens want. That is Chad Major.

A man of courage, strength, and truth

I would like to share that I have had the pleasure of knowing Chad Major for 23 years. Throughout many of those years, I had the opportunity to serve alongside him at a church, where I served as one of the pastors. Chad has always been a leader within the church, contributing in numerous ways.

Chad exemplifies a strong godly character; he is a man of integrity and a humble servant. He has consistently sought to serve others without expecting anything in return. His deep love for both people and his community is evident in all he does. When I think of Chad, I envision someone who embodies the qualities that Christ calls believers to radiate. He truly reflects the fruits of the Spirit described in Galatians 5:22-23, which he actively strives to live out.

Chad exhibits love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. He consistently prioritizes the needs of others above his own and does not seek personal gain; rather, his desire is to serve, knowing that it is God's calling for him. While he commands great respect, he never demands it; instead, his kind nature and servant’s heart naturally earn the admiration of those around him.

Chad is a man of courage, strength, and truth. He stands firm in his beliefs, fully aware that it is God he serves and that the truth can be found in Scripture. As a devoted follower of Christ, he understands what it means to live and serve others with humility. Overall, Chad is an exceptional leader, dedicated to making his community a better place for future generations.

Chad Major is a great choice for our future mayor!

As a native of Pilot Point, graduate of Pilot Point schools and currently the President of the Pilot Point Municipal Development District Board, I have seen multiple mayors over the years. And Chad Major is what we need as we move forward as a growing city!

Chad chose to retire in Pilot Point and became immediately active in our community and with his local church. Chad demonstrates the professionalism and business intellect that we must have as we plan for the growth in the north DFW area. We must have someone that can fully understand all the needs that are current and coming much sooner than some would like to admit! He is a true professional in his conduct/comments as a current City Council member. He knows how effective meetings need to be conducted with his years of experience in the oil and gas industry. And Pilot Point deserves that!

I encourage all to visit with Chad to understand his beliefs and love of Pilot Point. In light of recent events over the past year in our city government, Chad Major is undeniably the best option for Pilot Point’s next mayor!

A man of patience and respect

What kind of man is Chad? I have observed him over the past 3 years and know him as a quiet, gentle man. He does not like to talk about himself or what he has accomplished in his life. He has a shy sense of humor but has a wonderful laugh.

He was on City Council, allowing the Meals on Wheels programs to be re-established at the Community Center after COVID. Two plus years ago he became a volunteer driver, sometimes solo, sometimes with his wife and upon request, giving on the job training for new drivers. He has been an advocate for Meals on Wheels, recruiting  new drivers.

I have observed him over the last 3 years at approximately 75% of the City Council meetings that I was able to attend. I observed a man of patience and respect for the other city council members, staff and visitors. You could always tell by his questions that he was informed on the subjects before the council at each meeting. He became Mayor Pro Tem of the Council upon the resignation of a former mayor via an election of the six remaining members. He ran the meetings with dignity and grace. When he decided to run for the vacated Mayor's chair, I never observed an unkind gesture or heard an unkind word from him towards the other candidate.

What kind of man is this? The man we need as Mayor, who will get the job done, working with all Council members, staff and citizens.

Truly cares about Pilot Point

I moved to Pilot Point in 1974 and I was in the horse business until 2009. My children went to school here. I have never been involved in politics, and until recent years I never paid much attention to the political aspect of what was happening here. But recently I have seen a need for better leadership, and that is why I’m writing this letter in my support for Chad Major. I have known Chad for a few years now and I know is a Christian man and truly cares about Pilot Point. He’s the type of man we need to help grow and make Pilot Point a better place to live and raise our children.

Remarkable skills and strong work ethic

I am writing to enthusiastically recommend Chad Major for Mayor of Pilot Point. I have had the pleasure of knowing Chad for 4 years and have witnessed his remarkable skills and strong work ethic firsthand.

During our time together at Midway Church, Chad demonstrated exceptional traits such as integrity, loyalty, team-player, emotional maturity, and critical thinking. He consistently approached his work with a positive attitude and a commitment to excellence.

Chad is not only skilled but also a genuine person who builds strong relationships with his peers. He is a great listener and collaborator, making him an asset in any team environment. I am confident that he will bring the same dedication and enthusiasm to the Pilot Point Mayoral position.

I highly recommend Chad Major without reservation. I believe he will excel as Mayor, and I am excited to see all that he will accomplish.

Champ Walker

A Mayor for the People

From the start of his public service on the City Council, Chad has exemplified what it means to be a community-focused leader. When he first joined the council, he personally sought guidance from residents to better understand their needs and navigate his new role effectively. This act of humility and openness defines his leadership style.

Chad believes that the success of Pilot Point lies in the strength of its people and businesses. He is committed to fostering an environment where both can thrive, ensuring the city remains a vibrant and welcoming place for all.

Focusing on what is good for the citizens.

I want to go on record as endorsing Chad Major for Mayor of the City of Pilot Point in 2025.

My name is Allen McCracken. I am a water quality professional and have been a pro bono water consultant to the City of Pilot Point for the last seven years. I have represented the City of Pilot Point with the Upper Trinity Regional Water District as an elected Director for the last five years, and currently serve as an Officer in the position of Board Secretary. I am Chairman of Upper Trinity Regional Water District’s Water Conservation Committee, and am a Member of Upper Trinity Regional Water District’s Water Supply Committee.

I have spent the last three years working with Chad who currently serves the City of Pilot Point as City Councilman, developing strategies for the City of Pilot Point’s water sources, water storage, water treatment, and water distribution.

Chad has a keen interest in the growth of Pilot Point as it relates to development, and has consistently protected the City of Pilot Point from becoming over obligated with debt. He has seen how other cities in North Texas did not properly plan for growth, and how the lack of proper planning has over taxed citizens. Chad has stood up against big developers focusing on what is good for the citizens, and not for what is good for the developers. Chad has studied how developers have bought influence with mayors, city managers and city council members, and will fight against wrongful influence.

Chad has the leadership skills, governmental know how, connectivity with the citizens, and the tenacity to lead Pilot Point into a bright future. Please join me in supporting Chad Major for Mayor of Pilot Point in 2025.

A humble servant of God

Chad Major has been a staple in my life for 25 years, so I think it’s safe to say I know him well. If I were to choose a phrase that represents how I see him, the phrase would be “a humble servant of God”. It’s difficult to explain Chad to others, in the way I know him, without going into how I know him. So, if you’ll allow me, I’d like to go into the ‘how’.

I am the eldest child of four. Four wild, head-strong, rambunctious, and intelligent kids. We ranged in age from 10 years-old to seventeen years-old when we first met Chad Major. He and our mother, Kate, met at church and started dating. My mom knew quickly after meeting Chad that he was different. She knew that she would marry him. What she didn’t know was that the four of us kids kind of liked things the way they were, and the way they had been for the decade since she and my dad decided to go separate ways.

As kids, we already had strong systems of support through our parents, extended and church families, friends, and community. We didn’t really need any one else, in our minds. Yet, when I was seventeen years-old, on the cusp of adulthood with all of the accompanying opinions and delusions of the acceptable status quo, there Chad was, all 6’4” of him standing in our house talking about a wedding. A wedding to our mom.

We are all close to our parents. If my mom and dad did anything well (and they did many things well), they made sure to work hard at fostering incredibly deep and meaningful connections with each one of us kids. So the knowledge of an impending marriage wasn’t a bad thing, in was simply a new thing. A thing we had to come to terms with.

Would it mean new rules? New scheduling changes (I don’t think my siblings and I really like schedules to this day)? What about Diane (our lifelong second mom and daily staple)? Would she retire after they got married? Did we need to move houses? Schools?! Most importantly, would Chad try to be a ‘dad’ to us? We didn’t need another dad. We had a great one. The reality of the marriage threw into question many delicate balancing acts in our lives and caused some anxiety.

The same can also be said for Chad, and his seven year-old, young, sweet, daughter, Madison. They were looking at a much different prospect. Instead of taking on a wife with one or two kids, Chad had to decide whether he wanted to be in the position to take on not just ‘any’ wife, but the established, determined (we kids got our mental strength from some where, right?), and successful in-her-own-right, Kate, with four children. Three of those kids already in their teens!

As I write this, all I can do is laugh and think “poor Madison!” She must’ve been terrified! Imagine being a tiny kitten and the introduction to your new family is one bouncing puppy after the other. Each one bigger, bouncier, and louder than the last. Chad was faced with that very real decision; should he merge his only daughter into a rowdy group of four older kids. But, it worked! God must’ve had His hands all over the union of our two families because to this day I am blessed with the healthiest of blended families I have ever met! I don’t write that lightly. In fact, the five of us Major / Jarvella kids could, and would, provide testimony after testimony of the ways God used Chad and Kate’s marriage to work harmony, peace, stability, and kindness first into their family and then into their communities.

That balance, that harmony, that peace starts somewhere. So, I now get to the heart of my letter today: it takes a humble servant of God to lead a large, blended family for 25 years and watch with every season as that family grows stronger, wiser, closer, to one another and to our Lord and Savior. It takes a man who knows how to identify the real problems in a system (of any kind), who can see the strengths and weaknesses of the participants, and can motivate, encourage, and lead them with a gentle, soft spirit to work together to build what Chad and Kate have built in our family.

In the past 25 years, our family has grown from the five Major / Jarvella kids to include sons and daughters in-law, eight grandkids, endless “adopted siblings”, and friends from all walks of life. We are truly awed by all that God has done in our lives individually and collectively. The gratitude and glory goes to God, because He chose the right leader for our little rag-tag assortment of personalities and quirks.

Chad is patient, kind, logistically and directionally-minded, gentle, and funny. He never sought to impose his will over our family dynamic, even when we were unruly and unfair. He worked within the system. He helped to identify what ailed us as a group and sought to make changes in the hearts of all parties involved where they could be useful. We are immensely blessed to have had him in our lives as a guiding light and leader.

In my humble opinion, Pilot Point would be equally as fortunate to have Chad Major work in those same ways to prepare for the changes and growth coming to North Texas. I know Chad and I know him well. I can personally attest that the Pilot Point family would grow stronger, wiser, and closer together as a community with Chad helping to guide the town from the inside.

My thoughts and prayers are with the town of Pilot Point as you work to select your next Mayor. Your city still has something special, that the suburbs of Dallas have lost in the last 5 years. The decisions on who your city leaders should be are critical and important to the lives of each citizen, and I’ll be praying for you all during this season!
